The Laurel Boys and Girls Club on Montgomery Ave in Laurel Maryland needs money. According to the Laurel Gazette, the club has asked the Laurel City Council for $50,000. The bad economy has put stress on the Clubs finances. Unfortunately, the economy also makes it harder for the city of Laurel to help the club with the exact amount of money it needs.
The $50,000 the club needs would only go for operating expenses. The Laurel Boys and Girls Club also needs more money for repairs and maintenance. The paper indicated while Mayor Craig Moe and the council were sympathetic to the Clubs plight, they don’t have that money right now.
The Mayor was still hopeful that something could be worked out.
